The Scrimshaw Brothers are a Minneapolis comedy team specializing in sketch and theatrical comedy. The Brothers are staples of the Minnesota Fringe Festival, among City Pages'2002 Artists of the Year and the creators of two Twin Cities' late night cabarets, Look Ma No Pants and The Scrimshaw Show. The Pioneer Press calls the Scrimshaw Brothers “the Twin Cities' sharpest sketch comedy team” and in 2003, Minneapolis-St. Paul Magazine named The Scrimshaw Brothers as one of the Twin Cities' top ten family owned businesses.

Joseph Scrimshaw is an actor, writer, and producer. Joseph has performed with Bedlam Theater, Mystery Cafe, the History Theatre, the MN Shakespeare Project, and is a resident performer of children's theater at the Old Gem in New Richmond, Wisconsin. As an independent writer and producer, Joseph has created multiple top ten best selling Fringe shows including Worst Show in the Fringe Die, Clowns, Die!, and Macbeth's Awesome Scottish Castle Party; and is an occasional arts commentator on MPR and The Current with Mary Lucia. Joseph is now an internationally produced playwright. His hit romantic comedy Adventures in Mating has appeared in New York, Seattle, the UK, Bulgaria, and every Monday night at the Bryant Lake Bowl right here in Minneapolis. Joseph has been described as "clever and inventive" by the Star Tribune, "physically fearless" by Pioneer Press and "King of Comedy" by MN Monthly. Joshua Scrimshaw, has built a reputation as a physical performer. City Pages declares, “Josh is famous for his commitment to the physical action of a scene.” In 2002, Joshua along with choreographer and spouse Adrienne English created the dance and silent comedy show Shut Your Joke Hole, described by City Pages as "bawdy masterpieces of comic timing" and named one of the Twin Cities' top ten theater productions of the year. Joshua's recent collaboration with Shanan Wexler, From Here to Maternity was a top ten selling show of the 2007 Minnesota Fringe. In addition to writing and producing, Joshua has performed with many local theater companies playing roles as diverse as Orestes in Bedlam Theater's production of Jean Paul Sartre's The Flies, Sir Andrew Aguecheek in Theater in the Round's production of William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night and D.B. Cooper in Cheap Theater's original production DB Cooper Didn't Die. Joshua also works regularly with Hardcover Theater, playing Sir Robert Peel and William Hare in the final three installments of their hit Victorian serial London After Midnight and, along with his brother Joseph, adapting and directing Hansel and Gretel for their upcoming Halloween show The Dark Side of the Brothers Grimm . For his next Hardcover project, Joshua will reunite with Shanan Wexler to adapt Giovanni Boccaccio's Medieval classic The Decameron .
