A Quick Q & A

Q: Um… what's a joke hole and why should I shut it?

A: The title refers to the production's lack of spoken words. No one utters a single word
in the entire show. All the comedy is silent.

Q: Silent comedy… You're not talking about mime, are you?

A: God no. Think silent film, only live on stage. Physical, situational comedy that uses sight gags and other forms of non-verbal communication to present a narrative.

Q: If the sketches are like little silent movies, does that mean they're… well, old?

A: Although the show uses a vintage mode of comedy, it is very much "of its time". It mixes "old" comic structures and archetypes with many situations and gags that never could have been shown on the silent silver screen.

Q: Okay, I think I get the silent comedy stuff but where does the dance fit in?

A: The dance in the show provides non-narrative interludes between sketches. They are comical, aesthetic pieces that are suggestive of the silent era and bygone comedy in general. Sophisticated eye candy, you might say.

Q: Fine. But is the show funny?

A: In our completely objective opinion, yes.
